Prof. Paweł Gancarczyk of the Institute of Art of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) was nominated to the prestigious scientific organization Academia Europea. This is a chance for a wide promotion of Polish musicological research on the international forum.
Prof. Garncarczyk heads the Department of Musicology at the Institute of Art of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He also works as the editor-in-chief of the magazine “Muzyka” and the series “Ikonografia Muzyczna. Studia i Materiały”. He is the vice-chairman of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Art of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the vice-chairman of the Art Sciences Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
Academia Europea was established in 1988 as the initiative of the Royal Society. The organization brings together outstanding experts from all fields of science, including Nobel laureates. Academia Europea provides opinions and advice on scientific matters (it cooperates, with the European Commission). The president of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Prof. Jerzy Duszyński is also a member of Academia Europea.
