Rector of the Medical University of Wrocław, Prof. Piotr Ponikowski was listed as one of the most cited scientists in the world for the sixth time in a row. The ranking is announced by the international analytical company Clarivate Analytics based on the Web of Science database.
This year’s ranking again includes four Poles: Prof. Ponikowski: awarded for the fifth time in a row, Prof. Adam Torbicki; late rector of Gdańsk University of Technology Prof. Jacek Namieśnik, awarded for the second time in a row, and Hazem M. Kalaji from the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, who previously worked for a Saudi Arabian university.
The HighlyCited Researchers ranking awards scientists whose publications were included in 1% of most cited works in 21 fields of science. The ranking included 6389 researchers from around the world. Over 40 percent of researchers work for the USA universities, followed by China researchers (about 12%), whose share is growing every year.
