The Literature Department after 1989 at the Institute of Polish Philology at the University of Wrocław invites participants to a lecture by Prof. Rita Felski (University of Virginia), “Hooked. Art and Attachment”, based on a new, unpublished book by this outstanding American critic and theoretician of literature.
The lecture will be delivered on December 7 in the Nehring Room (library reading room) at the Institute of Polish Philology at Nankier Square 15. The organizers provide simultaneous interpretation.
Rita Felski was born in Birmingham, in a family of emigrants (father was a Pole, mother was a Czech). She worked at universities in Australia, the United States, and recently in Denmark. She deals with feminist criticism, concepts of modernism, postmodernism and avant-garde, a phenomenon of reception of literature and literary criticism. Her latest book, The Limits of Critique, deals with suspicion as the basic feature of reading in its today’s critical reception.
