Włodzimierz Bernacki, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Education and Science, presented nominations to new members of the Council of the National Science Centre (NCN). The first meeting of the new Council was also held, at which Prof Robert Hasterok was elected chairman of this body.
Prof. Robert Hasterok is a biologist; his scientific interests concern plant molecular cytogenetics. He is a specialist in the use of fluorescence in situ hybridisation techniques in nuclear genome research. He works at the University of Silesia and became a member of the NCN Council in 2020.
The Council of the National Centre of Science is the key body of the Centre, determining the scientific disciplines and discipline groups within which the Centre’s competitions for the realisation of research projects are announced and conducted, determines the amount of financial resources earmarked for the realisation of research projects within individual scientific disciplines or discipline groups, and defines the conditions for conducting the Centre’s competitions.
