Professor Tadeusz Domański from the Department of Theoretical Physics of the Institute of Physics at the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin was awarded the Scientific Award of the Polish Physical Society for 2019.

The award was granted for examining the topological stability of the superconducting phase and Majorana quasiparticles in magnetic chains and hybrid structures with quantum dots.

In his scientific work he deals with analysis of the properties of high-temperature superconductors, super-liquid boson and fermionic atoms, a description of correlation phenomena in solid materials and nanoscopic heterostructures, and a description of electronic transport. He is also interested in using new methods of quantum field theory to describe highly correlated systems.
The prize was awarded during the 45th Congress of Polish Physicists in Krakow.
