Professor Aleksandra Ziembińska-Buczyńska from the Silesian University of Technology was awarded as the Science Communicator of the Year 2018 in the scientist category. The Science Communicator competition has been organized since 2005 by the Polish Press Agency and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

The laureate is a microbiologist and director of the Center for Science Popularization, which was founded at the University of Technology in 2017. – I am an active scientist, teacher and science communicator. In addition, I try to coordinate popular science activities at my university, because I like to share my knowledge – says Prof. Ziembińska-Buczyńska. The activities at the Center inlude “Tailored learning” – classes tailored to the individual needs of the student, “Junior and Senior University of Technology” – classes for children with carers. Individual classes with scientists for the winners of school competitions are also organized there.
