Professor Jan Węglarz from the Poznań University of Technology was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal Award by the Association of European Operational Research Societies. Earlier, Prof. Węglarz received the Gold Medal of this organization, along with Prof. Jacek Błażewicz and Prof. Roman Słowiński.
The Association of European Operational Research Societies is an organization bringing together 32 countries and several thousand members dealing primarily with operational research – a scientific discipline related to decision theory, allowing to determine a method and solve specific problems related to making optimal decisions.
Professor Węglarz is the head of the Operational Research and Artificial Intelligence Unit at the Institute of Computer Science at the Poznań University of Technology. He is the creator of the internationally recognized school of science in the field of operational research and its applications – mainly in computer science.
