The new rector of the Lodz University of Technology in the 2020-2024 term will be Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik, current Vice-Rector for Education. He will replace the head of the university for the past four years Prof. Sławomir Wiak.
Professor Krzysztof Jóźwik is a graduate of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Lodz University of Technology. In 1987 he graduated in the field of machine construction and operation. Immediately after it, he began working at the Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery, where he became director 20 years later. Professor Jóźwik obtained his doctorate in 1998 for his dissertation “Examination of the turbine of the piston engine charging unit in stationary and non-stationary power supply conditions”. He obtained the post-doctoral degree in 2006 based on the monograph entitled “Mechanical tilting disc heart valve with a layer of nanocrystalline diamond.” In 2014 he became a professor of technical sciences.
Since January he has become the Vice-Rector for Education (he was also director in the years 2008–2012. In March this year he became the head of the anti-crisis staff of the PŁ in the coronavirus pandemic. He was a visiting professor at Coventry University, and was appointed an external examiner by Cranfield University.
