Professor Krzysztof Wielecki becomes a member of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences

Krzysztof Wielecki, professor of the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University (UKSW) in Warsaw and director of the Institute of Sociology, UKSW, was appointed by Pope Francis as a member of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences.

Professor Wielecki is the 26th member of the Academy, which brings together economists, sociologists, psychologists, political scientists and philosophers. The aim of the Academy is to promote the study and progress of social, economic, political and legal sciences in the perspective of research and development of the Catholic social doctrine. The Academy also promotes the application of this doctrine in modern society.
The academy consists of no less than 20 and no more than 40 ordinary academic scholars and honorary scholars. Academy scholars are appointed by the Pope on the basis of “competence in social sciences and integral moral attitude”.
