Professor Marek Biesiada from the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry at the University of Silesia became the laureate of this year’s Wojciech Rubinowicz Scientific Award of the Polish Physical Society.

Every year the Polish Physical Society awards experienced scientists, young researchers and teachers for their outstanding achievements and services in the field of scientific research, popularization of physics and its teaching. Wojciech Rubinowicz Scientific Award is granted for an article or series of articles published in the five years preceding the year of submitting the application.

Professor Biesiada was awarded for innovative research on gravitational lenses and compact radio sources as new tools for cosmology and fundamental physics.
