Professor Michał Karoński was elected by the European Commission as a member of the Standing Identification Committee, nominating members of the European Research Council (ERC).
The Standing Identification Committee operates under the provisions of the Horizon 2020 Framework Program and Horizon Europe Program and plays a key role in the selection of future candidates for members of the ERC Scientific Council.
Thanks to the Committee’s recommendations, the European Commission appoints new members of the ERC Scientific Council. The members of the Committee are selected from recognized and honorable European scientists with outstanding achievements, open and independent views, engaged in research activities. This year the European Commission elected Prof. Michał Karoński, Carl-Henrik Heldin (chairman) – Uppsala University, president of the board of the Nobel Foundation, Sweden; Barbara Flueckiger – Zürich University, Switzerland; Kirsten Gram-Hansen – Aalborg University, Denmark; Carlos Mertinez Alonso – Spanish National Research Council, Spain and Mira Mezini – Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany / Albania.
Professor Michał Karoński was in the years 2010-2016 chairman of the Council of the National Science Center.
