Professor Pałys claims new law to reward the quality of the university as one organism

-While planning the organization of a university, we should remember about the new system of evaluating its activities. According to the new act, the entire university will be assessed as the set of specific disciplines. So if archeology is dealt with by three entities of the university, now they will no longer be assessed individually, only the university archeology will be assessed as a whole. The new Act on Science and Higher Education rewards the quality of the university as an organism, not the federation of autonomous entities – emphasized Prof. Marcin Pałys the rector of the University of Warsaw in an interview for the weekly journal Polityka.

Professor Pałys also referred to the alliance of four European universities announced in March: the University of Warsaw, the Charles University in Prague, the Sorbonne and the University of Heidelberg. One of the aims of this alliance is student exchange, especially during PhD studies. The Alliance is one of the most important undertakings to build the University’s connections with world universities.
– In various scientific projects we already cooperate with universities in Cambridge, Oxford, Göttingen, Bonn and other recognized centers. However, the symbolic dimension of this Alliance is important – it reminds us that academic cooperation across borders is one of Europe dimensions – added the rector of the Warsaw university.
