Professor Zasada becomes new rector of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences

Professor Michał Jerzy Zasada, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, was elected rector of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW).

Professor Zasada graduated from the Faculty of Forestry at SGGW in 1993. In 1998 he presented his PhD dissertation, ten years later he became Associated Professor and in 2014 he received the title of professor of forestry sciences.

His research include forest management, modeling the growth of trees, dendrometry, the use of modern technologies in forest inventory and decision supporting systems in forestry.

In the years 2008–2012 he was the dean of the Faculty of Forestry (previously he was the vice-dean for didactics and vice-dean for science). In this term, he has been the Vice-Rector for international cooperation.

He is a member of the Commission for Cooperation of the International Conference of Rectors of Polish Academic Schools, a member of the board of CASEE – the ICA Regional Network for Central and South Eastern Europe and a member of the Committee on Forest Sciences and Wood Technology of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
