The ‘Yellow’ concept prepared by Magdalena Kazulak and Konstancja Staniecka – architecture students at Wrocław University of Science and Technology – received an honourable mention at the final of the Saint-Gobain Architecture Student Contest 2023 in Lisbon.
The competition task was to develop a proposal for the revitalisation of a plot of land at the Boavista Landfill site in Lisbon. It currently belongs to the city council and is used as the headquarters of municipal services, with public and cultural uses. The premise was to transform the area in the Bairro Alto district into a local cultural centre. The project had to comply with the guidelines of the urban plan and fit in with the landscape of the area.
The students developed a concept for a seven-storey building with units positioned diagonally to the building line. In addition to the flats, they planned a workshop, a restaurant, a café and a gallery. A startup space and exhibition space would also be created throughout.
