The research project “Analysis of the possibility of introducing a statutory ban on the use of tobacco and tobacco products in passenger cars transporting children” by the researchers of the Medical University of Gdańsk obtained funding in the Onkogranty competition.

The aim of the project is to analyze available studies on the exposure of children to tobacco smoke in private vehicles, to examine legislative trends in selected countries and to analyze the legitimacy and feasibility of introducing such provisions in Poland. After the research and tests, a report containing a proposal for legislation will be presented. It will be prepared in consultation with the Ministry of Health and will be disseminated nationwide. In addition, the resulting conclusions will be the basis for scientific publications.

Onkogranty are awarded annually by the Foundation “Polish League Against Cancer”, which seek for new and so far not financed by other institutions projects referring to the program “Strategy against Cancer in Poland 2015-2024”.
