Researchers of the Medical University of Wroclaw published the interdisciplinary article “Genetic basis of sleep bruxism and sleep apnea – response to a medical puzzle” indicating on the genetic basis of sleep bruxism in the journal Scientific Reports.
The authors are analyzing the possibility of new, more effective methods of sleep disorder therapy, which are currently undergoing clinical research by the research team of the Sleep Laboratory of the Department and Clinic of Internal, Occupational Diseases, Hypertension and Clinical Oncology as well as the Chair and Department of Experimental Dentistry.
Their clinical research was conducted by an interdisciplinary team of researchers from the Wroclaw university together with the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Israeli University of Tel Aviv. The publication of results is a milestone in the field of sleep medicine, for the first time clearly indicating the genetic basis of sleep bruxism and the relationship between sleep apnea and bruxism.
