Students of the third High School Navy in Gdynia, together with the Pelixar engineers from the Pomeranian Science and Technology Park Gdynia, made the first in Poland documented drone meteorological and biological measurement at an altitude of 20.5 km.
The drone was elevated to 20.5 km by the stratospheric balloon. There it disconnected and returned itself to the starting place. The launching of a drone with a balloon solved the problem of lack of control over the place of landing of the research material and guarantees greater efficiency and better quality of measurements.
The flight is part of a 3-SAT space project carried out by students of a high school in Gdynia together with partners. Apart from the help of Park companies, the youth could count on the support of the Civil Aviation Office, the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency and the Polish Army as well as experts from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management and the University of Gdańsk.
