Professor Piotr Ponikowski from the University of Medical Sciences in Wrocław (UMW) has once again been ranked among the world’s most cited researchers. The rector of the Wrocław university has been present in the prestigious Highly Cited Researchers ranking continuously since 2016.
“This ranking is part of a trend that we have been noticing recently at the Wroclaw University of Medical Sciences. It shows the growing position of the university in international lists – first place in Poland in THE – World University Ranking, presence on the Shanghai list, the recently published 2% TOP list prepared by Stanford University, where nearly 30 UMW representatives were included. This is a series of activities showing that we are realising science that is significant and noticed”, says Prof. Ponikowski.
Prof. Ponikowski is a physician, cardiologist and director of the Institute of Heart Diseases at the Medical University and the University Clinical Hospital in Wrocław developing innovative treatment methods at the facility.
