Doctors from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Wrocław University of Life Sciences (UPWR) have taken care of the rescue dogs of the Mountain and Water Volunteer Rescue Service, as well as the Volunteer Fire Brigades and dogs “on rescue retirement”.
“We are proud of this cooperation. Because of what they do for people, rescue dogs should receive special care, including veterinary treatment. Therefore, as part of the agreement, specialist consultations, diagnostic tests, necessary laboratory analyses and treatment of dogs will be free of charge, and their owners will only pay for the materials used”, says Professor Jarosław Popiel, Head of the Department of Internal Medicine with the Clinic for Horses, Dogs and Cats at UPWr.
“Working dogs most often come to us with injuries, but those animals that have already retired from ‘rescuing’ need the most attention. They often have joint, cardiac and dental problems”, adds Dr Grzegorz Sapikowski from the Department of Clinical and Laboratory Diagnostics.
