Research on humour and aggression on the Internet

25.03.2019

Dr Marta Dynel from the Faculty of Philology at the University of Lodz (UŁ) has started her research on humour and aggression on the Internet.

Humour and rudeness in the Internet are subjects studied so far independently. The main goal of the interdisciplinary project of Dr Marta Dynel is an analysis of interdependence between sense of humour (both verbal and non-verbal) and verbal rudeness in communication in social media, showing that aggression on the Internet can serve entertainment purposes and that Internet humour can have its roots in real or faked aggression.

– We will systematically examine new forms and dynamics of aggressive humour, mainly in English but also in other languages (Polish, Russian, Lithuanian, German, Italian and Spanish), analyzing not only intercultural but also intra-cultural issues- said Dr Marta Dynel.
