Researchers from the University of Warsaw (UW) have built a device that could prove helpful in constructing a network card for a quantum computer. The results of their research have been published in the journal ‘Nature Photonics’.
A team of researchers from the Quantum Optical Devices Laboratory at the QOT Centre for Quantum Optical Technologies – Dr Michał Parniak and Dr Mateusz Mazelanik, as well as PhD student Sebastian Borówka and MA student Uliana Pylypenko from the UW’s Department of Physics – constructed a device that converts quantum information between single microwave and optical photons.
The results of the research on the new microwave detection technique, which could find applications in quantum technologies as part of the infrastructure of the quantum internet and in microwave radio astronomy, were published in the journal Nature Photonics.
