Prof. Rafał Dziadziuszko, head of the Department of Oncology and Radiotherapy at the Medical University of Gdańsk, received the James D. Cox Award for his merits in the field of lung cancer radiotherapy. The laureate received the award during the plenary session of the World Conference on Lung Cancer 2023 in Singapore.

An international jury chaired by Prof Andrea Bezjak of the Princess Margaret Cancer Center in Toronto, Canada, honoured the Gdansk scientist for his contribution to the development of radiotherapy, his special achievements in global lung cancer clinical research and his contribution to pre- and postgraduate education in Poland and Europe.

The James D. Cox Award is given to the most outstanding experts in the field of thoracic cancer radiotherapy in memory of Prof. James D. Cox, a world-renowned scientist and physician who headed the Department of Radiotherapy at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, USA, for many years.
