Professor Piotr Ponikowski from the Wroclaw Medical University and Prof. Stefan Anker from the Charité clinical hospital – Universitätsmedizin in Berlin won the Polish-German COPERNICUS Scientific Award 2018 for outstanding achievements in the field of cardiology.
Researchers were honored for research on heart failure that contributed to a better understanding of the pathophysiology of this disease and to the development of new treatment strategies. Candidates for the Award are reported by the scientific community. 29 applications were evaluated in this year’s edition.
The COPERNICUS Prize is awarded every two years by the Foundation for Polish Science and the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft. Its aim is to promote Polish-German scientific cooperation. The award-winning scholars are expected to have special merits for German-Polish cooperation, combining different experiences, knowledge and resources to jointly solve research problems.
