Professor François Béguin from the Faculty of Chemical Technology at the Poznań University of Technology received the prestigious award of the European Carbon Association (ECA). The prize was presented during the World Carbon Conference 2018 in Madrid.

Every three years, ECA awards a scientist whose activity has an important contribution to the state of knowledge in the field of carbon materials. The prize is awarded for contribution to the scientific community dealing with coal and for supporting others in the pursuit of scientific excellence or making a significant contribution to creating a strong foundation for the community of scientists dealing with coal and technologies supporting sustainable development.

Professor Béguin is the co-author of over 300 publications cited over 20,000. times, dozens of patent applications and international patents. He is the promoter and mentor of many young scientists from Europe and Asia.
