Professor Hanna Mazur-Marzec from the University of Gdańsk received a nomination for the Polish Intelligent Development Award 2019 in the ‘Scientist of the Future’ category. The nomination was granted for the implementation of the project “Peptides produced by Baltic cyanobacteria – from identification to the choice of a leading compound (from hits to leads H2L)”.
The project is implemented under the program of the National Science Center – OPUS 11, and its budget is almost PLN 1.5 million. The interdisciplinary research in the blue biotechnology in the future may contribute to obtaining a product useful in the development of a new anti-cancer drug from the sea natural resources.
The winners of the Intelligent Development Award are eminent scientists and institutions, which in their activities and scientific research demonstrate a continuous focus on the future ensuring sustainable economic development.
