Dr Anita Ciesielska, from the Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection of the University of Lodz (UŁ), became a laureate of the Polish Intelligent Development Award 2019 in the category of the Scientist of the Future.

The project “Analysis of the expression of dermatophyte virulence factors in response to selected carbon sources” awarded by the Center for Intelligent Development is financed by the National Science Center as part of the SONATA-12 competition.

– I study the interaction between the fungus (dermatophyte) and the host cells (epidermis, hair, nails). I am looking for the way how the fungus settles human skin and causes mycosis – explains Dr Ciesielska.
