Dr Alina Szukalska from the Faculty of Chemistry at Wrocław University of Science and Technology, has been awarded a grant in the third this year’s Miniatura 7 competition organised by the National Science Centre. She received almost PLN 50 000 for her research, which she will conduct at the French University of Angers.

Dr Alina Szukalska works at the Institute of Advanced Materials at the Silesian university’s Faculty of Chemistry. Her research interests include issues related to laser spectroscopy in organic systems (liquid crystals, polymers, luminescent dyes). In her research work, she particularly focuses on the search for systems for white and multicolour lasing.

As part of the Miniatura 7 programme, she received PLN 49. 500 for the ‘Study of nonlinear optical properties of new perylenediimide-based polymers for applications in optoelectronics’. The awardee will carry out this research during a research internship at the LPHIA Photonics Laboratory at the University of Angers.
