Dr Weronika Urbańska from the Faculty of Environmental Engineering at Wrocław University of Science and Technology has won the “Scientist of the Future” award of the 8th Intelligent Development Forum. She was awarded in the category ‘Woman of science who changes the world’.
In her work, the winner deals with methods of recovering critical metals from used batteries, sustainable management of raw materials and their extraction from extraterrestrial resources (lunar and Martian regolith), the impact of waste management on climate change and the implementation of the Closed Circuit Economy model in everyday life and industry.
The Smart Growth Forum has been organised since 2016 and focuses on promoting the benefits of innovator-led ventures for the future economy. The event brings together, among others, CEOs and owners of innovative companies, managers and leaders of innovative ventures, scientists, local government officials, representatives of government and organisations focused on smart growth.
