Dr Maciej Musiał, professor of the Department of Cultural Philosophy of the Faculty of Philosophy of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, was awarded the Polityka Scientific Award 2020 in the Humanities category.

The research of the Poznań scientist also allows to better understand contemporary culture, and at the same time the tensions that occur within it, between the reflective and emotional human attitudes. The laureate studies the relationship between humans, automata and robots, which plays an increasingly important role in contemporary culture, and many people treat them as entities resembling themselves.

His considerations are aimed at a reliable reconstruction of various points of view on a given matter and at juxtaposing various perspectives. The culmination of his scientific achievements to date is the book “Enchanting Robots: Intimacy, Magic and Technology”, which was published last year by the prestigious Palgrave Macmillan publishing house.
