The consortium with Dr Elżbieta Senkus-Konefka from the Department of Oncology and Radiotherapy of the Medical University of Gdańsk received a grant in the COST program for the LOBSTERPOT project.

The researchers’ goal is providing multilevel coordination of research on lobular breast cancer, which accounts for about 10-15 percent of all cases of this most common cancer in women, affecting around 25,000 patients a year in Europe. Research groups from eight European countries and the United States will participate in the project.

LOBSTERPOT will create a platform for cooperation for scientists in various fields: epidemiologists, geneticists, biologists, clinicians, bioinformatics and many others. Close cooperation with patient environments will also be carried out. All this will contribute to the development of improved diagnostic and therapeutic methods for patients with lobular breast cancer.
