Dr Katharina Boguslawski from the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń (UMK) was awarded the Dirac Medal for developing new methods of quantum chemistry for ground and excited states of strongly and weakly correlated systems based on sensor networks.

The Dirac Medal is awarded annually (since 1998) by the World Association of Theoretical and Computational Chemists (WATOC). It is granted to outstanding computational chemists under the age of 40. Only one Pole, Prof. Jerzy Ciosłowski from the University of Szczecin was awarded so far among the 24 winners.

Dr Katharina Boguslawski from the Institute of Physics at the faculty of physics, astronomy and applied computer science, UMK has joined the group of laureates. Her scientific activity includes the development of methods of electronic structures for ground and excited states at the interface between physics and chemistry.
