Prof. Wiesław Banyś, rector of the University of Silesia in Katowice in 2008–2016, was elected a member of the European University Association Nominations Committee (EUA NC). The term of his office will last four years.

The European University Association (EUA) brings together European universities. The main task of the organization established in 2001 is to standardize the process of educating students and conducting research. The Nominations Committee is for providing the first talks and preliminary selection of candidates for the presidency and members of the Association’s board.

Prof. Banyś previously belonged to the Council and the Board of EUA. His scientific interests are general and Romance linguistics, in particular semantic grammar, logical foundations of linguistics, cognitive linguistics, cognitive computational lexicography and applied linguistics.
