Dr Anna Milewska-Hendel of the University of Silesia becomes a laureate of the Prime Minister’s Award in the category of an outstanding doctoral dissertation. The researcher was awarded in the discipline of biological sciences.
Her dissertation “Nanoparticle-plant interaction on the example of Hordeum vulgare L. and Arabidopsis thaliana” was prepared at doctoral studies. It describes the abiotic stress associated with continuous climate change and environmental deterioration caused by human activity, which has a huge impact on plant development and crop productivity.
The achievements of Dr Milewska-Hendel were highly appreciated by the doctoral dissertation committee and the reviewers who unanimously distinguish her dissertation. In the justification, the reviewers emphasized that the presented results are extremely innovative and have significant scientific value for the research on the interaction of nanoparticles with plants.
