Researcher of the University of Wrocław becomes an expert of the European Union

27.11.2020

The European Economic and Social Committee appointed Prof. Aldona Wiktorska-Święcka of the University of Wrocław to the position of the expert of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) on the sustainable development policy of the European Union in the perspective of 2021-2027.

The EESC is an advisory body that represents workers ‘and employers’ organizations and other interest groups. It issues opinions addressed to the European Commission, the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament. It is the link between the European institutions that make decisions and the citizens, where interest groups can comment formally on EU legislative proposals.

Its members represent various civil society organizations – entrepreneurs, trade unions and other interest groups. They are nominated by their national governments and later they are appointed by the EU Council for a five-year term. The number of members from each country depends on the size of their populations.
