Scientists from the Department of Water Management of Climatology and Environmental Sciences of the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn have developed a new device for collecting and draining water into the retention reservoirs. The solution will soon receive a patent from the Polish Patent Office.
The authors of the patent application are Sławomir Gromadzki, Ireneusz Cymes, Katarzyna Glińska-Lewczuk and Sławomir Szymczyk. The invention is targeted for storing and delivering water when needed.
– Our idea is to use tubular tanks to capture water from surface, subsurface and groundwater runoffs from agricultural and forest areas. It enables its collection and sharing when it is needed for irrigating agricultural and forest crops – explains Dr Eng Ireneusz Cymes from the Department of Water Management in Climatology and Environmental Sciences at the Faculty of Environmental Sciences and Agriculture UWM.
