Winners of European Research Council (ERC) grants from Poland, the Czech Republic and Germany participated in the European Forum for Science, Research and Innovation in Dresden. Poland was represented by Prof. Magdalena Król from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences.

ERC offers the most prestigious European grants. In Poland, only a few scholars have been awarded in the last 10 years in the category of life sciences.

These are high-risk research. There is a high probability that they will not succeed, but if they do, they will be a breakthrough for the world – explained Magdalena Król.

– I’m working on solid cell therapy for solid tumors. So not leukaemia, only tumors that grow. We use immune cells to deliver drugs to the tumor area. We use the physiological mechanisms that normally occur in our body, to smuggle some medicine and kill this cancer from the inside – explained the professor from the Warsaw University of Life Sciences.
