14.06.2019

Scholars of the Institute of Informatics of the Lublin University of Technology (PL) returned from a two-week trip to central Asia, where they conducted research and classes with students and participated in seminars and conferences.

Lublin scientists took with them over 25 kg of specialist equipment, including 3D scanners, laptops with high computing power, cameras and photographic equipment.

– Our task was to provide three-dimensional scanning of museum and archaeological objects. This is especially important for the reconstruction of damaged or destroyed historic items – says Prof. Jerzy Montusiewicz from the Institute of Computer Science.

The scientists took scans from the paintings on stones, sculptures of Buddha, buildings of Islamic culture, and even costumes of rulers of nineteenth-century Khanate states.
