Scientists of the Independent Public Clinical Hospital of the Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin have obtained a grant from the Medical Research Agency for the project “Assessment of safety and clinical effectiveness of aortic stent grafts modeled using an innovative 3D model printing technology – multicentre randomized trial”.
The aim of the project, realized with the participation of vascular centers from Poznań and Wrocław, is a randomized multicentred research on the use of 3D printing technology to design and modify aortic stent grafts in advanced aortic surgery in the treatment of thoracoabdominal aorta pathology.
The studied technology allows for perfect modeling of stent-grafts without the need to wait for the production of the currently used grafts, and it is several times cheaper. Before its dissemination, it is necessary to conduct clinical trials, which will be carried out under a grant of over PLN 14 million.
