Researchers from the Faculty of Journalism, Information and Bibliology of the University of Warsaw studied in Poland the FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) phenomenon, i.e. fear of being disconnected from the network.
Research on a representative group of Polish Internet users (up the age of 15) was set on a very extensive, scientific basis. The effect of the work was not only calculating the FOMO indicator in Poland, but also getting acquainted with the scale of this phenomenon.
Dr. Anna Jupowicz-Ginalska, initiator and coordinator of the study emphasizes that “thanks to the obtained data, we know that high FOMO syndrom concerns 16% Polish Internet users over 15 years of age. This is a large group, because it means that several million Poles may have problems with disconnecting from the Internet and smartphone. ”
