The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management in collaboration with the Faculty of Environmental Engineering at Wrocław University of Science and Technology has developed an atlas of small wind energy in Poland. This is the first digital solution of its kind that can be used by those planning to install small wind turbines, reports the university.
The growing popularity of renewable energy sources has resulted in more and more backyard photovoltaic and heat pump installations being built in Poland. The least popular means of producing green energy are wind turbines. This is due, among other things, to a lack of up-to-date information on where it is worth setting up such a backyard wind turbine.
A team of scientists from the Wrocław university and specialists from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management undertook to solve this problem. Together they have developed Poland’s first digital atlas of small wind energy with a surface resolution of 1×1 km.
