University of Gdańsk researchers have won the City of Gdansk Jan Uphagen Awards for Young Scientists. Aleksandra Mańkowska, MA from the Institute of Psychology was awarded in the category of humanities and social sciences, and Dr Karolina Pierzynowska from the Department of Molecular Biology, in the category of exact and natural sciences.
Aleksandra Mańkowska received the award for outstanding achievements in neuropsychological foundations of orienting visual attention, and Dr. Pierzynowska was awarded for achievements in the search for new therapies and methods of treating neurodegenerative diseases.
The City of Gdańsk Award for Young Scientists is the most important prize for young researchers in Pomerania region. The award for young scientists under the name “Young Hevelius” was established in 2003, and since 2006 it is called the City of Gdańsk Jan Uphagen Award for Young Scientists.
