The awards of the City of Krakow granted to the researchers of the Małopolska Center of Biotechnology of the Jagiellonian University (MCB UJ). The jury headed by Prof. Jan Ostrowski also awarded particularly valuable diploma theses, which were written at this oldest Polish university.
The Awards of the City of Krakow were granted for the first time in 1933, but their history stemms back to the 16th century. The first laureate known by name was Mikołaj Jaskier, who was awarded in 1535 for codifying municipal law. Today, the competition jury awards prizes in the following fields: culture and art, science and technology, sports and diploma theses.
The winners of the Krakow City Awards 2020 in the field of science and technology include Prof. Jonathan Heddle of MCB UJ for research in the field of synthetic structural biology and Dr Sebastian Glatt (head), Dr Przemysław Grudnik, Dr Michał Rawski, Dr Piotr Wilk, Klaudia Woś, Kinga Wróbel, scientists of the MCB Jagiellonian University, for scientific work -research in the field of structural biology.
