The Council for Higher Education and Science at the Mayor of the City of Lodz granted awards to scientists of the Lodz University of Technology for achievements promoting activities for the development of the city in the Technology and in the Science categories.
In the Technology category, the jury awarded the scientists working under the scientific supervision of Prof. Eng. Małgorzata Szynkowska, researchers from the Institute of General and Ecological Chemistry and scientists of the Institute of Materials Science and Engineering, TUL. They were awarded for developing a technology for ecological, waste-free and cheap removal of chlorine from gas mixtures, especially from exhaust gases and exhaust gases generated in the processes of thermal and thermocatalytic decomposition of organic compounds containing chlorine.
In the Science category, the award was achieved by the scientists of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science and Automation of the Lodz University of Technology including: Dr Eng. Marek Bartosik, Prof. Eng. Piotr Borkowski, Dr Eng. Franciszek Wójcik for the study: Redundant, non-polarized, vacuum-semiconductor DCSS systems for ultra-fast protection of superconducting electromagnet coils.
