Researchers of the Nicolaus Copernicus University receive Awards of the International ARCHIMEDES Fair

22.07.2020

Scientists from the chemistry department of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń won a gold medal and a special award of the Moscow International ARCHIMEDES 2020 Fair for the invention “The method of obtaining three-dimensional graphene roses”.

The subject of the invention is an oil-free and laser-free method of obtaining graphene roses using water suspensions of commonly available graphite. The proposed material may allow to improve the process of generating electricity in supercapacitors, fuel cells or photovoltaic cells.

The high conductivity of graphene, both thermal and electrical qualities could replace silicon in electronics in the future, which will enable further miniaturization of electronic equipment.

The ARCHIMEDES exhibition in Moscow is one of the largest and most famous events of this type in the world. This year’s showroom gathered over 600 inventions from 24 countries.
