The Department of Anatomy of the Department of Human Morphology and Embryology at Medical University in Wroclaw has established a new laboratory. It will be run by Dr Paweł Dąbrowski, who has been involved in research at archaeological sites for over a decade.
The studio was created for the implementation of a research project, as a result of which the health condition of Wrocław inhabitants at the beginning of the industrial revolution will be assessed. It will be possible thanks to the research of their bones. Applying appropriate research methods will allow to answer questions about the state of nutrition, professional activity, overload and living conditions of the former residents of the city.
Dr Dąbrowski with his interdisciplinary scientific teams, studied teeth of representatives of the Homo neanderthalensis species from the Stajnia cave, thanks to which he knew what diseases they suffered from, how they cared about oral hygiene and what people were eating hundreds, thousands and tens of thousands of years ago.
