Just over PLN 338 million will be awarded to researchers for the implementation of 407 projects in Polish units under the OPUS 25 and PRELUDIUM 22 competitions, the National Centre for Science (NCN) has announced.
The OPUS and PRELUDIUM competitions enable the implementation of basic research in Polish units. OPUS grants are used to carry out complex projects lasting several years, build large scientific teams, use large international research facilities and cooperate with foreign partners. PRELUDIUM is a competition that allows researchers at a very early stage of their career, even before their doctorate, to gain first experience in carrying out research projects lasting up to 3 years.
“From the very beginning of the National Science Centre’s operations, we have focused on building a complete scientific career path that emphasises the independence and development of researchers. Many outstanding scientists working in Poland today are representatives of the so-called NCN generation – researchers who started their scientific path with, for example, PRELUDIUM and then developed their research”, says Krzysztof Jóźwiak, director of NCN.
