Scientists from the Department of Computer Science and Automation at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of the Rzeszów University of Technology have developed an automatic method for determining the quality of magnetic resonance images. The program can support radiological technicians by reducing the examination time.
The idea for the project resulted from the observation of image quality problems that a radiologist or technician faces during an MRI examination.
Dr Eng. Mariusz Oszust emphasizes that the computer program developed at the Rzeszów University of Technology supports the technician during the examination. It allows scientists to measure the quality of the recorded images in a way that is correlated with the average quality rating of a large group of radiologists.
The quality measurement will allow for the rejection of scans of poor quality, proposing better scanner parameters and possibly automatic scanner operation – explains Dr Eng. Mariusz Oszust.
