The ESEO S-50 scientific satellite with a telecommunications system constructed by scientists and students of the Wrocław University of Technology has been launched into space from the Vandenberg base in California.

The system is an original development with technical solutions created entirely at the Wrocław University of Technology. It consists of a microwave transmitter, a satellite onboard computer and a microwave antenna. His task is to manage the exchange of transmitted data. The whole device weighs 0.8 kg, and the antenna, made of ultra-light materials, weighs less than 40 grams. The transmitter allows scientists to send a large amount of satellite data to a ground station with a speed of 10 Mbit / sec.

The ESEO (European Student Earth Orbiter) satellite was created as part of the educational program of the European Space Agency, implemented since 2000. It was attended by 30 European universities, including the Wrocław University of Technology.
