Collegium Civitas in Warsaw invites participants on Friday, September 14 at the scientific symposium “History in the world of post-truth”. The introductory lecture will be delivered by Dr. Benjamin Jones from the Australian National University.

During the symposium, which will be conducted in English, participants will seek answers to the question: what post-truth is and how it affects historical research.

The “post-truth environment” is a particular problem for historians who are trained to deal with evidence, data and facts. Does the historian have a special role to play in protecting public memory against “alternative facts”? Are academics obliged to combat false messages both at universities and in social media?
