Prof. Andrzej Więcek from the Medical University of Silesia became a co-author of two publications in The New England Journal of Medicine. His articles in a prestigious journal describe a novel method of treating anemia in patients with chronic kidney anemia.
The published works are: “Daprodustat for the Treatment of Anemia in Patients Undergoing Dialysis” and “Daprodustat for the Treatment of Anemia in Patients Not Undergoing Dialysis”.
– The publications are concerning an innovative method of anemia treatment in patients with chronic renal failure. One of these studies discusses the results obtained in patients with renal failure in milder stages, i.e. when patients do not require dialysis yet. The second publication presents the results obtained in patients with end-stage renal disease who already require dialysis – says the scientist from the Medical University of Silesia.
